With more than 210 participants for the Practitioners’ Forum and 42 delegates for the Policy Forum we thank you for joining the Early Recovery event and for your important contribution to the "Towards Joint Action" statement. 

We have gathered all relevant information - handouts, speeches, presentations, photos, videos and podcasts - from the Early Recovery event held on the 1-2 October here on the ER site. You will also find the final "Towards Joint Action" statement and the action points drawn up in the Early Recovery Workshops and used at the Policy Forum.

Interviews from Early Recovery Practitioners' and Policy Forum


220 people were in the beginning of October gathered in Copenhagen to discuss the early recovery concept. The setting was innovative, and Forum theatre was used as a method. "We've spend too much time in conferences," Anne-Birgitte Albrectsen says.


"During this Policy Forum, we were able to consider 24 very concrete actions suggested by the Practitioners' Forum," says Kathleen Cravero, talking about the Policy Forum where key policy makers were gathered and agreed upon a common statement on early recovery.

Interview with Lisa Henry, Relief Director in DanChurchAid, a Danish NGO, about early recovery from a NGO point of view.

 


Ameerah Haq, Deputy Special Representative to the Secretary-General/UN Resident Coordinator in Sudan, talks about her experiences with the early recovery concept.

  Lisa Perch, UNDP Programme Officer, UNDP Barbados is interviewed about her experiences on early recovery, especially in Grenada where hurricanes have caused severe damage.


Anish Kumar Roy, Special Representative to the ASEAN Secretary General to Myanmar is interviewed on his experiences in Myanmar and the move from relief to early recovery.


Lt General, Nadeem Ahmed, Pakistan is interviewed on the experiences of the earthquake in Pakistan in 2005 where the early recovery cluster approach was implemented.
